13 October 2021, MANILA, Philippines – Private operator of LRT-1 Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) recently received the Safety Seal for its train stations and depot from the local government unit of Pasay City, highlighting the commitment of the company in providing a safe transportation system by using best in class safety protocols.
The Safety Seal Certification assures the public of the establishment’s compliance with the minimum public health standards set by the government to effectively contain the spread of COVID-19.
“In LRMC, safety is part of our mission for our dear commuters and employees. We are not just their partners in efficient and comfortable journey, but for safety as well. The Safety Seal that we received from the City of Pasay is just a testament that we are one with the government’s effort in encouraging safety of the public as the country gradually opens the economy amid the COVID-19 pandemic. We treat this as a milestone putting on top of mind the safety of our commuters as we slowly increase the capacity of our trains in line with guidelines set by the government,” said LRMC Head of Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality Department Louernie De Sales.
The ceremonial installation of the Safety Seal at the LRT-1 Baclaran Station was led by LRMC Head of Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality Department Louernie De Sales; LRMC Head of Operations Andrea Madrid together with DILG Local Government VI Rommel Cena; Pasay City Business Permits & Licensing Office (BPLO) Officer-in-Charge Michelle Talavera-Pardo; ACOPO Lt.Col. Lepron Platon; and Fire Inspector Alejandro Ramos of the Pasay City Bureau of Fire and Protection.
LRMC continues to innovate by using technology in implementing strict health and safety protocols as it expects to receive other Safety Seals from different local government units covering LRT-1 stations.

LRMC is a joint venture company of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation and Sumitomo Corporation’s Metro Pacific Light Rail Corporation (MPLRC), Ayala Corporation’s AC Infrastructure Holdings Corporation (AC Infra), and the Philippine Investment Alliance for Infrastructure’s Macquarie Infrastructure Holdings (Philippines) PTE Ltd. (MIHPL). It assumed operations and maintenance of LRT-1 in September 2015 through a PHP 65-billion 32-year concession agreement with the Department of Transportation and the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA). LRT-1 is Metro Manila’s ISO-certified train system.
