LRT-1 private operator Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC), today announced a special operating schedule for the 2025 Christmas holiday season.
To accommodate the expected surge in passenger volume as Filipinos head out for holiday shopping and festivities, LRMC will extend its operating hours on select dates to provide more convenient and reliable transportation.
To serve commuters during the peak holiday rush on December 18 (Thursday) and December 19 (Friday), as well as on December 22 (Monday) and December 23 (Tuesday), the last train will depart from Dr. Santos Station at 10:45 PM and from Fernando Poe Jr. Station at 11:00 PM. This provides an additional 15 minutes of service compared to the regular schedule of 10:30 PM and 10:45 PM, respectively.
During the weekend of December 20 (Saturday) and December 21 (Sunday), LRMC will also extend its operations with an additional 45 minutes of service from the usual weekend schedule of 9:30 PM and 9:45 PM. The last train will leave Dr. Santos Station at 10:15 PM and Fernando Poe Jr. Station at 10:30 PM.
In observance of Christmas Eve on December 24 (Wednesday), LRMC will implement shortened operating hours, with the last train on this day departing from Dr. Santos Station at 8:00 PM and from Fernando Poe Jr. Station at 8:15 PM. However, on Christmas Day, December 25 (Thursday), the hours will once again be extended from the regular holiday schedule to 10:15 PM from Dr. Santos Station and 10:30 PM from Fernando Poe Jr. Station.
For December 26 until December 30, LRMC will follow its regular schedule for weekdays, weekends, and holidays accordingly. For New Year’s Eve on December 31 (Wednesday), LRT-1 will implement a shortened schedule with the last train departing Dr. Santos Station at 7:00 PM and Fernando Poe Jr. Station at 7:15 PM.
On New Year’s Day, January 1, 2026, the regular holiday schedule will be in effect, with the last trips at 9:30 PM from Dr. Santos Station and 9:45 PM from Fernando Poe Jr. Station.
LRMC clarifies that there will be no changes to the first train departures throughout the holiday season. The first trains will continue to leave both ends of the line at 4:30 AM on weekdays and 5:00 AM on weekends and holidays.
“We are implementing these adjustments for our passengers because we believe that reliable service is the best gift we can offer, especially this season,” LRMC President and CEO Enrico R. Benipayo. “Our commitment remains focused on providing a safe and reliable journey for the community during this special time of the year.”
The public is advised to plan their trips ahead of time, especially given the increased activity this Christmas holiday season.
