Love is in the air as LRT-1 private operator Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) is set to spread love and joy to passengers this February with surprises and activities to make their commuting experience extra special.
“Love Month is all about celebrating the different forms of love, and we at LRMC would like to extend that feeling to our passengers. We go beyond providing efficient transportation, and do our best to keep LRT-1 as a community of care and compassion. We have prepared a variety of simple activities this month that highlight love, not just for their loved ones, but also for themselves and their well-being,” LRMC Corporate Communications and Customer Relations Head Jacqueline S. Gorospe shared.

LRT-1 passengers will be treated to various surprises at LRT-1 stations. On Valentine’s week, LRMC train drivers will serenade passengers onboarding trains. A mini fair will also be held at LRT-1 Central Station on Valentine’s Day featuring products from LRMC employee entrepreneurs. This is an opportunity for passengers to support local businesses and find unique gifts for their loved ones.

LRMC has also collaborated with various organizations. The Manila Police District will join in the serenading on February 14, adding another layer of joy and community spirit. Additionally, ManilaMed will offer free blood pressure checks at LRT-1 Central Station on February 14 and LRT-1 United Nations Station on February 15. To promote better health awareness, LRMC is supporting Pasay City Health – Pasay Social Hygiene Clinic’s campaign in providing free HIV screening tests at LRT-1 Baclaran Station on February 14 and 15. To cap off the Valentine’s week, select LRT-1 passengers will enjoy treats from 101.1 Yes FM on February 16 where they can participate in games with a chance to receive limited edition merchandise from LRMC and 101.1 Yes FM.

Moreover, LRMC and Renacimiento Manila are adding a touch of romance to the existing LRT-1 Heritage Transit Tour with a special Couples Tour on February 25 celebrating heritage and love in the heart of the city. The LRT-1 Heritage Transit Tour was launched in November 2023 to promote urban tourism by riding LRT-1 and exploring important landmarks near select LRT-1 stations. Renacimiento Manila, a cultural organization that holds regular walking tours in the City of Manila, spearheads the heritage transit tour for LRT-1. More details may be found in the Renacimiento Manila Facebook page.
The LRT-1 Heritage Transit Tour aims to promote Manila’s rich cultural heritage through one of its most vital mass transit systems, the LRT-1.
These activities underscore LRMC’s commitment to providing not only a safe and convenient commuting experience, but also one that fosters a sense of community and well-being among passengers.
