12 August 21, MANILA, Philippines – Phase 1 of the 11.7 km LRT-1 Cavite Extension project is now 60% complete with girder covering the entire stretch of Dr. Santos Station to Pacific Avenue near Asiaworld Station.
Recent construction activities include the launching of pi-girders through above-ground launcher along CAVITEX near Paranaque bridge. The installation of pi-girders will continue along Pacific Avenue which will require closure of both northbound and southbound carriageways from August 16 – 19, 2021 (10PM – 4AM).’
5 August 2021, MANILA, Philippines, — Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) unveils today a special LRT-1 themed train aimed at championing the country’s vaccination program against COVID-19.
The themed train bears the Ingat Angat Bakuna Lahat campaign of the Taskforce T3 (Test, Trace, Treat), a multi-sectoral public-private consortium of companies and organizations including LRMC, which are working closely with the government to drive up COVID-19 vaccine confidence and speed up the country’s recovery.

20 April 2021, Manila, PHILIPPINES – Private operator of LRT-1 Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) announces that LRT-1 operations will no longer be suspended on 24 – 25 April 2021 as majority of the planned maintenance works have already been completed ahead of schedule.
LRMC previously announced that two weekends in April will be needed to complete the remaining maintenance of trains, stations, and various systems including overhead catenary system started during the Holy Week. Major rehabilitation works were performed to continuously ensure the safety and reliability of the LRT-1 system.
13 April 2021, Manila, PHILIPPINES – The Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) announces the temporary suspension of LRT-1 operations for two weekends in April 2021 to continue the maintenance works needed for a better and improved LRT-1 experience.
The shutdown on April 17 – 18 and April 24 – 25, 2021 (Saturday & Sunday) will allow LRMC to complete the remaining maintenance and rehabilitation works started during the Holy Week. The works to be carried out during this period would cover the maintenance of trains, stations, and various systems including the scheduled replacement of overhead catenary wires. The additional days will also accelerate the preparations needed for the commercial use of the new Generation-4 train sets in Q4 2021.
